FRANK WEBB AWS DF, NWS



Frank Webb was born in North Versailles, Pennsylvania. Following military service Frank Webb studied at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and began a career in advertising art, eventually becoming the owner of a firm with major industrial accounts. In 1980 he left his business to pursue painting and teaching. 

He has been a guest instructor in all 50 United States and numerous global locations as well. In 2006 Webb was included in the article, 20 Great Watercolor Teachers by the American Artist Magazine, Watercolor. 

He is the Master of Ceremonies of the American Watercolor Society where he has also earned a Dolphin Fellowship. Among the collectors of Webb paintings are the Butler Institute of American Art, the Taiwan Art Education Institute, Baylor University, the Tweed Art museum, the Palmer Museum of Penn State, the Portland Museum of Art, the Lakes Art Center, the Southern Arkansas Art Center and the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art. The Philadelphia Water Color Society has awarded him the Crest Medal For Achievement in The Arts and he has received over 125 major medals and awards from national and international competitions, including seven from the American Watercolor Society. He has authored five books, numerous articles and five DVDs. 

His biography is included in Who’s Who in American Art. The Transparent Watercolor Society of America has awarded him Master Status and the Jiangsu, China Watercolor Research Institute has granted him honorary membership. Webb has been a member of the Pittsburgh Watercolor Society for 40 years and has locally been identified by the Pittsburgh Art Center as a Master Visual Artist III, Preserving the Legacy. 

Last year the Thessaloniki Watercolor International has awarded him an award for a Lifetime Achievement.
