ANTONIO BARTOLO

António Bártolo was born in Angola in 1962.
His first contact with Portugal happened in the northern region of Trás-os-Montes, land with which he identifies himself. A little while after, he came to the western region of the country, to the small town of Torres Vedras, which is still his actual residence.

His career started as silk screen printer and brand designer and in 1998 António Bártolo held his first solo exhibition, becoming a full time artist.


The artist classifies himself as an autodidact and he presents an aesthetics apparently simple, but it manifests itself through splendid light effects which enchant us. This craftsman transgresses reality when he revises and reconstructs with his perspective and soul.

Becoming a poet of colors and memories. Nowadays beyond all of his artistic work, he teaches the fine art of watercolor. Apart from his artistic job, António Bártolo is also the president of AAPOR - Associação de Aguarela de Portugal and the founder and organizer of Encontro Internacional of Aguarela de Santa Cruz (Portugal) and Watercolor Meeting of Caldas da Rainha.

Since his first exhibition, António Bártolo has participated in several exhibitions, both solo and collective, and counts with three publications, granting him a large footprint exhibiting in many different countries across the world.
