LA FE
Sattha Homsawat (LaFe) born November 12, 1969 and known to
the global watercolour world as La Fe, is a towering figure on the
international watercolour scene, a famous globetrotting artist from
Thailand.
Educated at the Graduated Faculty of Painting and Sculpture,
at Silpakorn University in Thailand, itself a country large on the world art
scene, he is one of the three executive directors on the Board of the
International Watercolor Society - IWS Globe, itself possibly the largest and
fastest growing art society in the world.
Recently he has become well known for his "Watercolor
Without Drawing" series of international workshops and paintings featured
on state Television and at international workshops. He follows a tradition of
handing the medium of watercolour with a purist approach, often rendering
subject matter in "plein air". He often demonstrates to large
audiences. He is in demand around the world with invitations from large numbers
of admirers in Russia, Europe, South East Asia, China and other regions.
It is his ability to get his perception onto paper with
immediacy and directness which underpins hisabilities. It is hard to believe
that he is capable of this connection with both nature and his subject
matterwith no preliminary studies and no drawing. A tradition of respect for
masters of the arts and of teachers in Thailand has resulted in a generation
of Thai artists who are taking the
global stage. Among these is La Fe.
He has featured on mainstream Television. He has made many
appearances in the International art press. He has exhibited in over 80
international exhibitions in the last four years. He has been a prime mover in
organizing international watercolour exhibitions in Thailand. He is widely
respected by the global art community. He has been able to solicit Thai
national involvement in watercolour at a high level.
This relatively young master has established an
international reputation which looks set to grow.
